Hasan Tarique Chowdhury is a Bureau Member of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL), Secretariat Member of the Democratic Lawyers Association of Bangladesh (DLAB), and the Executive Secretary General of the National Committee of the Bangladesh Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity Organization (AAPSO).
Bangladesh AAPSO is a progressive mass organization affiliated with international Afro-Asian Peoples’ Solidarity movement since 1960s upholding the spirit of non-aligned movement and solidarity. Mr. Chowdhury is member of the Secretariat Bangladesh Peace Council which is affiliated with World Peace Council. He is the Joint General Secretary of the Bangladesh-Cuba Friendship Society.
He was born on 1st of July, 1972. He graduated and subsequently earned post-graduation (M.S.S) degree in Political Science from National University of Bangladesh in 1997. He was also graduated from University of London, UK in Law and subsequently earned post-graduation (LLM) degree in Law. He was a prominent student leader from 1985 to 2002. He was elected General Secretary (in 1998) and subsequently President (in 2001) of the Bangladesh Students Union, the leading left leaning student organization of Bangladesh.
As a student leader he played a vital role to build up the political movement and mass upsurge against the military autocratic regime of Lt. Gen. H.M. Ershad. As a young leader he played a nationally prominent role in the political struggle for democracy and democratic rights. He was the leading organizer of Anti-Imperialist Students’ Alliance of Bangladesh in 2001.
He is a prominent Human Rights defender in Bangladesh. He has always been at the forefront of the people’s struggle against war and for peace, freedom and liberty of all peoples of the world.
He often writes in local and foreign newspapers. He mainly writes on international affairs and law.
He is an activist for over the last 30 years. He is married and has a son.
