
Join the Monique and Roland Weyl People’s Academy of International Law on Tuesday, January 20 for Course 12: U.S. Military and Economic Aggression Against Venezuela. This course will provide a historical overview of US imperialism in Venezuela, the context for the Trump administration’s illegal invasion of Venezuela and kidnapping of President Maduro and First Lady Flores. Faculty will examine and analyze the illegality of US military and economic aggression against Venezuela which include: violations of the UN Charter and international law prohibitions of the use of force, forced regime change, seizure of lands and resources, occupation, and the use of unauthorized sanctions (unilateral coercive measures). At present, U.S. military aggression against Venezuela has killed at least 200 people in its invasion and 35 strikes.

- Professor David Palis Fuentes, Attorney at National Coordination of Justice and Community Peace of the Supreme Court of Justice; Advisory Council of American Association of Jurists
- Professor Gisela Jiménez Aranguren, Former Senator of Venezuela and former representative to Latin American Parliament; Advisory Council of American Association of Jurists
- Leonardo Flores, Venezuelan-American political analyst and activist; founding member of Venezuela Solidarity Network
