“Silence for Gaza,” titled the young Palestinian communist poet, Mahmoud Darwish after the 1967 Isaeli war of aggression, and wrote:
“Maybe the enemies can triumph over Gaza (as a ranging sea can triumph over an island)
Maybe they’ll cut down all its trees and break all its bones.
Perhaps they will plant their tanks in the viscera of its children and women and throw it into the sea, into the sand or into the blood.
But Gaza will never repeat lies to the invaders and will not say: yes
And will continue to explode;
This is not death or suicide, but Gaza’s way of declaring its right to life.”
77 years after the great victory over Nazism that wanted to dominate the world and the proclamation of the Charter of “We, the peoples of the United Nations, resolved to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war…”, the Doomsday Clock has been showing since the beginning of 2023, 90 seconds before midnight and certainly less now since the situation in Gaza was recognized as a situation threatening international peace and security by the UN Secretary-General.
After having opposed any peace initiative for the Ukrainian question, including any return to the Minsk agreements guaranteed by a Security Council resolution, the White House has continued since October 7, 2023, to veto all draft resolutions presented to the Security Council for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza while also ignoring all Security Council resolutions on the Palestinian question
With its veto of 8 December 2023, it found itself completely isolated within the Security Council following the abstention of Great Britain.
These vetoes violate the UN Charter because they give a green light to the continuation of a war, broadcast live with all its horrors on all screens, in the name of self-defense that does not exist in law because it is issued in support of the government of the Israeli occupation.
To accept such a rule, in which the aggressor can invoke self-defence, is to accept the violation of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to accept the delegitimization of any movement of resistance to the occupation.
Accepting such a legal heresy today also means retroactively considering past wars of aggression by the United States as perfectly legal, notably the wars against Iraq and Vietnam, where such “legitimate defenses” were already invoked for purely political reasons, without convincing the peoples of the world, including the people of the United States.
Gaza has once again dropped the masks of freedom, democracy and human rights worn by the White House.
Despite popular mobilizations around the world, especially in the United States, for a ceasefire, the Biden administration is still procrastinating and seems to be betting in Palestine on a military victory of the far-right Israeli government, as it did in Ukraine for the Ukrainian government, which is an apologist for Banderism, where the war has become unwinnable, according to the esteemed magazine Foreign Affairs.
In the Trump “America First” doctrine as in the Biden “America is back” doctrine, both hegemonic, there is in particular this dangerous idea that surfaces from time to time in the mouths of certain Secretaries of State and NATO officials, which is the idea of winning or making its subordinates win the wars in progress and imposing an American peace by military and economic means.
A “Pax Americana” denounced yesterday by President John Kennedy and which is impossible today given the regional and global balance of power.
Public opinion in the United States is now aware of the danger of American foreign policies tending to recover lost unilateralism and putting the world on the brink of a nuclear world war threatening all humanity.
Rather, it is “a new foreign policy beyond American exceptionalism” that is demanded today in the interest of the people of the United States and of all peoples, especially those experiencing major conflicts that threaten international peace and security.
The peoples need policies of peace and progress in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, including respect for the principle of the peaceful resolution of disputes and the right of peoples to self-determination
This Charter has placed international legality in the hands of the peoples, and we can only count today as in the past on the struggles of the peoples to impose its application.
We thank all the friends who contributed or helped to make this issue dedicated to the anniversary of the Charter of the United Nations.
Long live the Charter of the United Nations
And long live the struggles for its application.

77 ans après la grande victoire sur le nazisme qui a voulu dominer le monde et la proclamation de la Chartes des « Nous, peuples des Nations Unies, résolus à préserver les générations futures du fléau de la guerre…», l’horloge de l’apocalypse affiche depuis le début 2023, 90 secondes avant minuit et certainement moins maintenant depuis que la situation à Gaza a été reconnue comme une situation menaçant la paix et la sécurité internationales par le Secrétaire Général de l’ONU
Après avoir opposé son refus à toute initiative de paix pour la question Ukrainienne, y compris tout retour aux accords de Minsk garantis par une résolution du Conseil de sécurité, la maison blanche n’a cessé d’opposer depuis le 7 octobre 2023 son véto à tous les projets de résolutions présentés au Conseil de sécurité en vue d’un cessé le feu humanitaire immédiat à Gaza en ignorant toutes les résolutions là aussi du Conseil de sécurité sur la question palestinienne.
Avec son véto du 8 décembre 2023 elle s’est trouvée complètement isolée au sein du Conseil de Sécurité suite à l’abstention de la Grande Bretagne.
Ces vétos violent la Charte des Nations car ils donnent un feu vert à la continuation d’une guerre, transmise en direct avec tous ses horreurs sur tous les écrans, au nom d’une légitime défense qui n’existe pas en droit car elle est émise en soutien au gouvernement de l’occupation israélienne.
Accepter une telle règle où l’agresseur peut invoquer la légitime défense revient à accepter en l’occurence la violation du droit du peuple palestinien à disposer de lui-même et à accepter la délégitimisation de tout mouvement de résistance à l’occupation.
Accepter une telle hérésie juridique aujourd’hui revient aussi à considérer rétroactivement d’anciennes guerres d’agressions des Etats Unis comme parfaitement légales notamment les guerres contre l’Irak et le Viêtnam où de telles « légitimes défenses » ont été déjà invoquées pour des raisons purement politiques sans convaincre les peuples du monde y compris le peuple des Etats-Unis.
Gaza a fait tomber encore une fois les masques de la liberté, de la démocratie, des droits de l’homme portés par la maison blanche.
Malgré les mobilisations populaires dans le monde notamment aux Etats Unis en vue d’un cessé le feu, l’administration Biden tergiverse encore et semble parier en Palestine sur une victoire militaire du gouvernement d’extrême droite israélienne comme elle l’a fait pour le gouvernement Ukrainien faisant l’apologie du Bandérisme où la guerre est devenue Unwinable (ingagnable) selon la revue célèbre Foreign Affairs.
Tant dans la doctrine Trump « America First » que dans la doctrine Biden « America is back », toutes les deux hégémoniques, il y a notamment cette idée dangereuse qui fait surface de temps en temps dans les bouches de certains Secrétaires d’Etat et responsables de l’Otan, qui est l’idée de gagner ou faire gagner à ses subordonnés les guerres en cours et imposer une paix américaine par les moyens militaires et économiques.

L’opinion publique aux Etats Unis est maintenant consciente de la dangerosité des politiques étrangères américaines tendant à retrouver l’unilatéralisme perdu et mettant le monde au seuil d’une guerre mondiale nucléaire menaçant toute l’humanité.
C’est plutôt « une nouvelle politique étrangère au-delà de l’exceptionalisme americain » qui est exigée aujourd’hui dans l’intérêt du peuple des Etats Unis et de tous les peuples notamment ceux qui connaissent des conflits majeurs menaçant la paix et la sécurité Internationale.
Les peuples ont besoin de paix et de progrès dans le respect de la Charte des Nations Unies notamment le respect du principe de la résolution pacifique des conflits et le droit des peuples à disposer d’eux-mêmes.
Cette Charte a mis la légalité internationale entre les mains des peuples et nous ne pouvons que compter aujourd’hui comme hier sur les luttes des peuples pour imposer son application.
