The International Association of Democratic Lawyers supports the following petition campaign and encourages all lawyers and legal workers around the world to sign on.
It is urging an independent investigation be opened at the Office for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) regarding allegations that Turkey has used chemical weapons. A statement on this issue was previously issued by a number of organizational signatories, urging that people and organizations calling for such an investigation not be prosecuted and that OPCW member states support such an independent investigation.

Serious findings, statements and images regarding the use of chemical weapons in the operations carried out by the Republic of Turkey on the territory of the Kurdistan Regional Government since 2021 are featured on social media and news channels. According to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), the states party to the convention are strictly prohibited from using chemical weapons.
Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is the implementing body of the Chemical Weapons Convention. We urge member states of the OPCW to request an investigation to pave the way for an independent investigation by the OPCW.

Depuis 2021, des découvertes graves, des déclarations et des images concernant l’utilisation d’armes chimiques, dans les opérations menées par la République de Turquie sur le territoire du Gouvernement Régional du Kurdistan, sont présentées sur les réseaux sociaux et les chaînes d’information. Selon la Convention sur l’interdiction des armes chimiques (CIAC), il est strictement interdit aux États signataires d’utiliser des armes chimiques.
L’Organisation pour l’interdiction des armes chimiques (OIAC) est l’organe conventionnel chargé de l’exécution et de la surveillance des engagements contractés par les Etats membres. Nous demandons aux États membres qu’une enquête impartiale et indépendant puisse être menée par l’OIAC.

Zahlreiche Erkenntnisse, Erklärungen und Aufnahmen, die auf Nachrichtenkanälen und in den sozialen Medien veröffentlicht wurden, weisen darauf hin, dass bei Militäroperationen der türkischen Regierung in der Region Kurdistan seit dem Jahr 2021 mehrfach Chemiewaffeneinsätze erfolgten.
Gemäß der Chemiewaffenkonvention (CWK) ist den Vertragsstaaten der Konvention der Einsatz chemischer Waffen strengstens untersagt. Das Durchführungsorgan der Chemiewaffenkonvention ist die Organisation für das Verbot chemischer Waffen (OPCW). Wir fordern die Mitgliedsstaaten der OPCW dringend auf, eine Untersuchung zu beantragen, um den Weg für eine unabhängige Untersuchung durch die OPCW zu ebnen.

Kimyasal Silahlar Sözleşmesi (CWC)’ye göre sözleşmeye taraf devletlerin kimyasal silah kullanması kesinlikle yasaklanmıştır.
Kimyasal Silahlar Sözleşmesi’nin uygulama organı; Kimyasal Silahların Yasaklanması Örgütü (OPCW)’dir. OPCW tarafından bağımsız bir soruşturmanın önünün açılması için OPCW’ye üye devletleri soruşturma talep etmeye çağırıyoruz.
