During the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw a rise not only in the number of afflictions with the coronavirus, but also in violations of human rights all over the world. Thus, despite varying degrees of lockdowns and quarantines, lawyers became a species of frontliners whose services are considered essential, especially in authoritarian states.

Speakers include:

Diego Garcia-Sayan, UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers

Baroness Helena Kennedy, Director, International Bar Association, Human Rights Institute

Suzanne Adely, President-Elect, National Lawyers Guild, USA

Niloufer Bhagwat, Vice President, Indian Association of Lawyers

Maria Sol Taule, Legal Counsel, Karapatan, NUPL

Max Boqwana, President, NADEL South Africa (National Assocation of Democratic Lawyers)
