Resolution on Afghanistan and Pakistan

The General Assembly of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, at its 17^th Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam, noting that:

Following the terrorist attack of 11 September 2001, the U.S.A. began its systematic dismantling of international law. The discredited “war on terror” began by unleashing the annihilation of the people of Afghanistan both from the air and the ground. The occupation of Afghanistan under the pretext of helping Afghanis to have democracy is in direct contradiction with all principles of international human rights and international humanitarian law.
The presence of US, NATO and other troops in Afghanistan is a new form of imperialism. These forces must be withdrawn and a legitimate government must be formed under the auspices of the United Nations ensuring that a national government that respects the human rights of the Afghan people is established.
In addition, the use by the United States of unmanned aircraft and other means to attack people and installations on Pakistani territory is a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a clear violation of international law.

Now therefore, the General Assembly of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, at its 17^th Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam:

Calls for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all foreign forces from Afghanistan; and
Demands that the United States cease all violations of Pakistani sovereignty and desist from all further acts of bombing and military attack against people and locations in Pakistan.
